         Rajabhat Rajanagarindra University is located in the Muang District of Chachoengsao where is near the well-known royal temple of Wat Sothon Wararam Woraviharn that is enshrined with Phra Phutasothon which is highly regarded as one of the most respected Buddha images by all Thai people.

         The institute was operated in 1940 under the name of “Provincial Teacher Training School at the Certificate Level” and then it was changed to “Chachoengsao Teacher Training School for Women” which offered Municipal Teacher’s Training program at certificate level. In 1951, it operated Elementary Teacher program at certificate level for women in the first provincial part of Thailand. In 1955 the institute’s name was changed to“Chachoengsao Teachers College” and allowed men to join Education program at certificate level. On 1 October 1970, the institute was promoted to be “Chachoengsao Teachers College” and it was upgraded the program from certificate level to higher certificate level. It began running undergraduate degrees in Education (B.Ed), Science (B.Sc.), Liberal Arts (B.A.) and offered High Vocational Certificate in twilight programs and special programs.

          On 14 February 1984,it was received a name “Rajabhat Chachoengsao Institute” from King Bhumibol Adulyadej with his royal gracefulness. Afterwards, Her Royal Higher Princess Galyani Vadhana gracefully gave her last name “Rajanagarindra” to the institute. Therefore, it was become “Rajabhat Rajanagarindra Institute” in 19 February 1998.

          On 10 June 2004, His Majesty has been graciously pleased to proclaim the establishment of Rajabhat University replaced Rajabhat Institution. The institute has become “Rajabhat Rajanagarindra Univeristy” until the present.
